DR EMMA FORDHAM

I graduated from Dundee University in 1991 and joined Brimington Surgery as a partner in 1998. My special interests are in Women's Health and Family Planning. I value our approach to Personal Care here at Brimington Surgery and the continuity that we endeavour to offer. Days in surgery: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

DR RUPERT WHITE

After a career in Engineering, I retrained in medicine at Nottingham University, qualifying in 2009. The majority of my subsequent training was in Chesterfield, including periods at The Brimington Surgery, and I qualified as a General Practitioner in Chesterfield in 2014. I started as a salaried GP here at The Brimington Surgery at that point, and joined the partnership in 2017. My special interests are in musculoskeletal medicine and dermatology. Days in surgery: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

DR LOUISE BELLINGHAM

I qualified from Sheffield University in 2010 and went on to continue my training in Nottinghamshire before coming to Chesterfield to start my GP training in 2014. I qualified as a GP in August 2017 and started work as a Salaried GP here at Brimington Surgery before becoming a Partner in August 2021. Days in surgery: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

DR MARIA ROBERTS

I qualified from The University of Nottingham in 2014 and went on to continue my training in Nottingham and Chesterfield before starting my GP training in 2016. Much of this training was done here at Brimington Surgery. I qualified as a GP in August 2019 and started work as a Salaried GP here before becoming a Partner in April 2020. Days in surgery: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

DR MARZENA WHITTAKER

I qualified from University of Silesia in 2006. I went on to continue my medical training by working in various medical specialities in Blackpool Victoria Hospital, Northern General Hospital, Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield and Chesterfield Royal Hospital. I qualified as a General Practitioner in Chesterfield in 2020 and started working as a salaried GP here at The Brimington Surgery. Days in surgery: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

DR LOUISE J BRIGGS

I qualified from Sheffield University in 2000 and continued my training in Sheffield and Chesterfield until qualifying as a GP in 2004. I have worked in Chesterfield since then and joined Brimington surgery as a salaried GP in March 2021. Days in surgery: Monday and Tuesday

I qualified from the University of Bristol in 2016 and then started my junior doctor training in South Yorkshire. I qualified as a GP in 2022 having trained in Chesterfield. I joined Brimington surgery as a salaried GP in 2023. Days in surgery; Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.

DR ESTHER JAMES

MRCGP, FSRH, GMC - 7284936

I studied at Nottingham University and qualified in 2012. I then completed my foundation training in Nottingham and Chesterfield, and joined the Chesterfield GP training programme in 2014. After qualifying as a GP in 2017, I took a few months out of clinical practice to travel around India and South-East Asia, before return to General Practice. Over the past 5 years I have worked in a variety of settings, including a long term salaried post, for an out of hours provider, and also as locum GP. I started working at Brimington Surgery in 2023. Days in surgery: Monday/Tuesday mornings and Friday all day.

DR THOMAS RONAN

I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2018 and completed my foundation hospital posts in Chesterfield and Derby. I undertook further training at hospitals and GP practices in Sheffield, qualifying as a GP in 2024. I joined the practice shortly after as cover for maternity leave. I have an interest in palliative care. Days in surgery: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Nurses

Practice nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes, minor ailment clinics and carry out cervical smears.

Community Matron

The Community Matron is a highly experienced and qualified Nurse . Much of her work takes place in the community supporting our housebound patients.

FRAN MOSSMAN

Healthcare Assistants

Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one. Mandy, Gemma, Kim and Wendy are our HCAs.

Social Prescribing Team

The social prescribers' role is to support and enable patients who might not be able to independently access the help and support they need for their health and well-being from community and voluntary services.

Practice Management

The Practice Manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The Practice Manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Administration

Our admin team consists of the following staff: Joanne (Team Leader), Leanne (Medical Secretary/Administrator) Jo M, Lisa C (Administrators) & Roz (Care Co-ordinator).

Patient Support Team

Our Patient Support Team are here to help and assist you. If you have a query that cannot be solved they will endeavour to find someone that can help. In some circumstances this team are required to ask for as much information as possible - for example when a home visit is requested. This is in order for your doctor to assess the situation and deal with it correctly. Confidentiality is a priority at the surgery and any information given will be dealt with appropriately. We are unable to give out any information to family members or friends unless written consent from the patient concerned has been given to the practice. Please understand that this is a stipulation of the Data Protection Act and is for the protection of our patients. The team consists of Juliet (Team Leader), Alice (Deputy Team Leader), Faye, Georgia, Laura, Natalie, Sarah & Sonia.

Patient Coordinator Team/GP Assistants

Debbie, Hollie and Nicola are our Patient Co-ordinators. This is a new role and helps to help support patients with their requests and queries.
